Bhangra is a lively and energetic traditional folk dance that originated in the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent, originally performed by Punjabi farmers to celebrate a good wheat harvest during the Baisakhi festival. Dancers move with high-energy jumps, kicks, and shoulder bounces to the loud, rhythmic beats of a double-headed drum called a dhol. Beyond the dance itself, Bhangra is a joyful celebration of culture, community, and togetherness — a colourful highlight of the evening.
